Life of Agony Singer Discusses Life for Transgendered People
Blabbermouth.net reported that Keith Caputo, lead singer and frontman for Brooklyn-based alternative metal band Life of Agony, recently wentpublic about his transition into becoming a woman and began to refer to himself as “she”. In an interview with U.K. Kerrang! Magazine, Caputo was asked if (s)he believed that society is tolerant of transgendered people:
"No, I don't. The whole system we live in is discriminative and fucked up. Everything's fucked up. There are no toilets for transgendered people, for example, which is why there are so many beatings and brutalities. If the authorities and the people who make laws would be sensitive towards the idea that humans come in all shapes, in different forms and desires, then there would be a lot more love in the world."
Caputo also made it clear that just because he is transitioning into a woman, that doesn’t mean he’s homosexual:
" People think that because you're transgendered you're homosexual — which I'm not — and sucking dick now. There's such a misunderstanding of what it means. The truth of that matter is that gender is in the brain and sexuality is in the genitals."
The lead singer’s Twitter feed has now become a place for discussing transgender and LGBT issues, often including the hashtag #100factsaboutbeingtranssexual. For those wanting to follow Caputo’s discussions about identity and life, just follow him on Twitter or visit his website.
